MASTER 2013 : Breaking Results

The Preliminary round of Malang High School Debate Tournament (MASTER) 2013 starts today. 32 teams from all over East Java competing to get the best 16 for the octofinal rounds in tomorrows eliminary day. There are 4 Preliminary rounds today, with the silent round (only verbal no decisions) at round 3 and super silent round (no verbal and decisions) at round 4, the battle of these high-schools are fierce and unpredictable. Several schools that become the dark horse of this tournament comes up to the breaking bracket and put aside several prominent teams from east java high-school power houses. Yet still we can't determine whose gonna have the throne of MASTER 2013. One thing for sure, the existence of several new names inside the breaking brackets will increase the feeling of competitions inside this tournament. 16 Breaking Teams and 10 Candidates of Best Speakers also mentioned below.

First of all we'd like to announce the is the list of Malang High School Debate Tournament 2013 participants. The official participants means that they have already complete 2 steps of registration, which is online registration and payment. Secondly, we'd like to remind that the booked list payment deadline is September 7th, 2013. And if there are any school that want to join more than 3 team, please contact Luthfi, the head of Admission, because there will be 3 teams limitation since today, extra team accepted. So, you can do the confirmation to inform whether you still want to list more team in the booking or not. Remember, that September 7th is only a week away from now, so grab your slot fast. NUDC 2013 : The Battle Begins !

National University Debating Championship 2013 starts today. 100 Teams from 100 Universities all around Indonesia will fight each other through a battle of minds and ideas. This year NUDC takes place at State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya (POLSRI) Palembang from August 25th-30th 2013. This nation sponsored debate competition using British Parliamentary system, which having the rules that only 2 members inside a team and there will be 4 teams in one chamber.

The participants have just under goes an opening ceremony and exhibition debate in the previous day. The exhibitionist are Rivera and Melisa acting as Opening Governement ; Saras and Jane acting as Opening Opposition ; Dungga and Ahdiat acting as Closing Government and last Astri and Edward acting as Closing Opposition.

Today (26/8) several preliminary round are scheduled. Kopertis VII sent 8 teams to the battle field. They're sent based on the previous competition held in this Kopertis. Malang institution still dominating the quotas since we've got 3 of 8 chairs from the Kopertis quota. Those 3 institutions are University of Brawijaya (M.Nur Rizki Oceano P, Aditya Janu P) , State Polytechnic of Malang (Fauzi Akbar, Septian Wijayanti) and University of Muhammadiyah Malang (Anastasya Wattimena, Bangun Muliyatani). We only missed State University of Malang, which unfortunately unable to go through final in Kopertis Battle though they have an outstanding breaking place from the preliminary tab. While, five other chairs of the Kopertis are posessed by University of Jember, University of Airlangga, University, State University of Surabaya, Surabaya University and Widya Mandala University.

The first, second and third winner of NUDC 2013 will get a golden ticket to 2014 World Universities Debate Championship in Chennai, India, along with the best team on the preliminary tab. Yet, different from the last NUDC, this year novice champion will no longer get a WUDC ticket from DIKTI. Without those prize, there is hope that the participant will prefer to win an compete in a high level rather than struggle below the radar. On record, University of Brawijaya is consecutively managed to break through the semifinal in 2011 and 2012 edition of NUDC. Hopefully this year, all the representative from Malang will get those top achievements and be the Champ of NUDC 2013.
